- Drink Up!
The simplest way to do it. Fill the oil by squeezing the rubber top and letting it soak up some oil. Then, drop the oil directly into the mouth and swallow. Not all people agree with how Delta-8 tincture tastes, so we have enhanced ours with terpenes to improve the flavor.
Our Delta-8 tinctures, for example, would produce 50 mg of Delta-8 THC dropperful. If you’ve never used delta 8 THC before or are usually more sensitive to THC, you might want to start with just half a dropper, or even just a quarter.
- Put It Under Your Tongue
This method is an improvement on the first method. Hold the oil under your tongue for a minute or two rather than swallowing it right away. This lets the Delta 8 THC get into the body through a network of tiny blood vessels under the tongue. This usually starts to work in about 10 minutes, which is the quickest. This is because D8 enters the bloodstream directly, skipping the digestive tract and first-pass liver metabolism.
This is the most effective way to take tinctures by mouth. The only drawback is that it might be quite unpleasant if you don’t enjoy the oil’s taste.
- Add it to something delicious.
Oil can be taken directly, but it can be disguised by mixing it with something more palatable for those who don’t enjoy the taste or texture.
To prevent this from happening, blend the oil into the beverage well. You’ll also want to gulp it quickly before it has a chance to separate and float to the top. The ideal approach to combine Delta-8 tincture with another beverage is to use one of those small electric stirrers or a blender to help disperse the oil evenly throughout the drink.
Keep in mind, though, that oil and water do not mix well, so if you add this tincture to tea or juice, it will float to the top. The oil that has risen to the surface will hit you square in the mouth as you take your first gulp. Try blending Delta-8 into a cup of bulletproof coffee in the morning or a soothing smoothie in the evening. Adding some milk, cream, or butter is also a great idea if you want the tincture to be uniformly distributed throughout the drink.
- Apply topically.
Delta 8 tinctures, like CBD, can be put directly on the skin. Tincture is made up of Delta 8 distillate and carrier oil; these ingredients can be used on the skin. Just a few drops will do the trick. Start with a few drops and rub them in before applying more. Putting too much can result only in a greasy mess.
DO NOT USE THE DELTA-8 TINCTURE THIS WAY
Never use Delta-8 tinctures in your vape pen.
Some brands are promoting their tincture oils as suitable for use in a vape pen. However, we do not want you to do this because it may taste terrible and is highly dangerous. We use MCT oil in our Delta-8 tincture, which is perfectly fine to be ingested and used on the skin but poses a health risk when combined with vape fluids. They can cause a life-threatening lung disease called lipoid pneumonia.
Moreover, instead of carrier oils or other polyunsaturated oils, most vape carts in the market use vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol to dilute the distillate as they are relatively safe for smoking. The DENEX Delta-8 Vape Cart has neither. Our Delta-8 vape carts give you that smooth feel even when they are potent. They only contain botanical terpenes and high-quality Delta-8 Distillate that has been tested for safety and quality multiple times by independent authorized laboratories.
DELTA -8 TINCTURES: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much Delta-8 THC tincture should I use?
A typical dose of Delta 8 THC is between 10 and 40 mg. A good starting dose is 10 mg. Then, if you don’t feel anything after an hour, take another 10mg more.
Instead of starting big and taking too much, it’s better to start small with the first dose and slowly increase it until you find a dose that gives you the effects you want. When taking cannabinoids, you can only add a little more, not take a little back. So, to be on the safer side of things and not regret having “too much,” take Delta-8 by an inch at a time.
Each dropperful of our 30mL Delta-8 tincture is about 1% of the whole content. It is standard to have 50 mg of Delta-8 THC. Take a quarter of a dropper for a 12.5 mg dose. Take half a dropper for a 25 mg dose.
Will Delta-8 tincture burn my mouth?
Traditional herbal tinctures are made with alcohol, so taking them straight can cause a burning sensation in your mouth.
Our Delta-8 Tincture is not made with alcohol. Instead, they’re made with organic MCT oil, so they feel nice and soothing. There’s nothing in them that would make you feel like you’re on fire. In fact, it’s the other way around.
How long do Delta-8 tinctures take to be effective?
Delta 8 THC tinctures can take 10 minutes to an hour to start working. If you use the second method (putting it under your tongue), the effects usually start within 10–30 minutes. The longer you hold it in your mouth, the faster and stronger it works.
If you mix the tincture with a beverage or swallow it immediately, the effects won’t start for about an hour.
Some say they had to wait as long as an hour and a half. If you take delta 8 THC with food or naturally absorb it slowly, it will take longer than if you take it on an empty stomach. Taking Delta-8 tinctures on an empty stomach allows for a faster absorption rate.
What happens if I take too much?
There are no reports of anyone overdosing on Delta-8 tinctures. If you take too much, though, it can cause some unpleasant side effects. If you take too much Delta-8 tincture, the two most common side effects are dizziness and “couch-lock.”
Delta-8 THC is a strong relaxant that could make you feel dizzy or lightheaded. If this happens, the best thing to do is to drink water, or better yet, lemonade, and lay down.
Couch-lock is the second most common effect. Again, it happens due to Delta-8’s sedative properties. Some people see this as a good thing, but others see it as something they don’t want. If you want to know more about how to triumphantly pass through a serious couch-lock episode, check out our post What to do when you get too high?
Will Delta-8 tincture make me fail a drug test?
A standard drug test will show a false positive for Delta 9 THC if you use delta 8 THC.
Drug test equipment is not sophisticated enough to differentiate the different kinds of THC you have in your body. They don’t know what the difference is between D9 and D8. Because of this, most urine or blood drug tests will pick up Delta-8 THC as the regular THC if you’ve used it. If you have to pass a drug test, you should avoid delta 8 THC in any form, even if it is legal in your state.
When you stop using Delta-8 THC, it usually takes about two weeks to be entirely out of your system. To be sure, you should stop using it at least three weeks before the test. The more frequently you use Delta-8 THC, the longer it takes to get rid of all traces of it from the body.
Can I give my dog Delta-8 tincture?
No. Don’t give Delta 8 THC to dogs, cats, or other animals.
Many people give CBD products to their dogs and have asked if it’s safe to use Delta-8 THC. CBD is safe for our pets because they are completely non-psychoactive. Delta-8, on the other hand, can give us heady effects, and if you let your furry companions take them, they will not have a grasp of what is happening. It would not hurt them physically, but their mental state might cause them much distress.
Delta-8 tinctures are simple to use. Take them as they are, or get a blender and mix them into your morning or nighttime beverage before a workout or after work hours. Or, if you have an inflamed knee or bruise, squeeze a few drops in your fingertips and rub them in the affected area until it is fully absorbed. For fast results, the best way is to put it under your tongue and hold it there for a few minutes before swallowing.
